YOASOBI - 夜に駆ける / Yoru ni Kakeru

I listened to 夜に駆ける / Yoru ni Kakeru this weekend because I was interested in introducing myself to some Japanese music. My Japanese music knowledge was previously limited to anime openings and soundtracks, so I wanted to try listening to JPop. The song was very catchy and fast and the singer's voice was great - she also sang the lyrics very clearly so I could distinguish the words she was saying. I think I will continue listening to JPop in the future because I really enjoyed this song!

I was able to determine based on the parts of the song that I could understand that though the melody and overall vibe of the song is happy, the lyrics are actually quite sad and are about having a broken heart, being angry, and fighting in a relationship. I could pick up some words and expressions but overall the song was quite fast so it was hard to translate in my head. Maybe if I listen to it more I'll be able to recognize more words/phrases!
