Vinland Saga
Season 2, Episode 16 "Cause"
This weekend, I watched a new episode of Vinland Saga, an anime I've been keeping up with throughout the semester. The series is historical fiction, so in this season the main character - Thorfinn - has been living the life of a slave. However, recently in the series, some drama has occurred on the farm he works on - a runaway slave came for one of the characters' friends, who helped him escape capture because they used to be married. Now, they are hiding the fugitive man. Thus, this is an emotional and tense part of the show. I am enjoying seeing more plot and character development because the season started out slow. I also like that a theme of nonviolence is slowly developing.
I recognized the meaning of "nothing" and "anything," vocabulary related to weather such as "rain." I also heard one character say "I think..." to speculate. I recognized counters as well, such as the way to say "two people." I also noted different question words like "why," etc. Moreover, because this episode was about a family that was broken up, many vocab words related to family from the recent chapter came up such as husband, child, etc. I could also understand the plain form more, such as dropping the question indicator at the end of sentences.
It's kind of crazy how long Vinland Saga has been out for already! I remember first watching it in like 11th grade, but it seems like such a long time ago now... I heard the 2nd season was alot more chill (and something about Farming?) but I think that its needed for the story to progress in a more meaningful way!
