Vinland Saga
Season 2, Episode 2
Summary/Review
This weekend, I watched Vinland Saga season two, episode two. This anime is a historical fiction/drama that takes place in Europe. The first season centered around Vikings, but this season so far has taken place on a farm. I am enjoying seeing new characters interact with old characters. In this episode, two characters who used to be free but are now slaves work to clear a forest in order to plant a wheat field, but struggle with poor treatment. This episode also introduced new side characters, including the son of the farm owner who wants to be a warrior, and a potential love interest for a main character, Einar. The episode was not full of action, but I have a feeling that things will become more exciting gradually, like in season one.
Japanese Recognition
I recognized some old and new vocab and phrases, such as introductions and manners like saying thank you. I also recognized the dictionary form and questions such as where, what, and yes/no questions. I also heard numbers and phrases used to describe duration of time such as "three years." I recognized individual vocabulary words as well such as person, river, front, back, etc.
