This weekend, I watched some new episodes of the new season of My Hero Academia, a popular shounen anime. This anime has a lot of action and is an ensemble of sorts, with a lot of familiar characters coming back each season. This season is about a war between heroes and a large group of villains who want to get rid of all heroes and make a world free for villains to be themselves. There is also a subplot about "nomus" which are superpowered monsters made to obey an evil mastermind scientist. In these episodes, the heroes fight these "nomus" after failing to arrest the mad scientist.
I enjoyed these episodes because they didn't waste time getting into the thick of the action and drama. Right now the heroes seem to have the upper hand, so I'm looking forward to seeing this change before the end of the season and really raise the stakes. Moreover, the central characters named Midoriya, Bakugou, and Todoroki, have not been featured heavily yet, so I'm sure they're being kept on the backburner for some major battles.
I was very excited during these episodes because I could recognize a lot of katakana words. Because this show is about superheroes, the katakana word "hero" shows up a lot, and katakana is used for a lot of superhero names such as "Endeavor," "Midnight," and "All Might." Moreover, I could recognize familiar phrases like "thank you," "sensei," "students," and more.
